HOW TO RETIRE CREDITS
To retire credits please locate the relevant block of credits on the 'My Credits' page. Then click 'Actions' button and select the 'Retire' option.
The Retire Credits dialogue box will appear and you will be prompted to select the number of credits to retire and enter information in the following fields:
Use case – select whether the credits are being retired for use in the Voluntary or Compliance markets, or Other.
Set Retirement Attribution - these are fields which can be used to record details of retirements made on behalf of a third party.
- Using Entity - This field is mandatory to complete. You can choose to display the contents publicly or keep them private. It should contain the name of the organisation on behalf of whom the retirement is being made. If the retirement is being made on behalf of an individual person please insert the words Individual or Private Person.
- Optional Note – This field is optional to complete. You can choose to display the contents publicly or keep them private. It is a free text field which can be used to include further details on the retirement e.g. the name of the individual on whose behalf the retirement has been made, the purpose of the retirement.

The retirement confirmation screen prompts you to confirm all retirement details. Once a retirement has been made it cannot be changed so it is important to check all details before confirming by clicking on ‘Initiate Retire’
Once you have completed the retirement you can click on ‘View Retirement Details’ to view the public
retirement record in the registry.
The retirement details contain a link to download the certificate of the retirement
The certificate for the retirement is generated instantly and is available to download. It contains details of the volume of credits retired, the project name and the retirement attributions that have been entered.
