The new requirements state that satellite imagery or GPS readings may be used to establish the distance between the waterpoint and the household. This distance would be “as the crow flies”. The individual data privacy clauses are regulated at the national level and it is important that national regulations are taken into account. The information and evidence may be provided without compromising the privacy of individuals. The project developer, when needed to provide such information, may mask the individual’s identity following the regulatory context of the host country.
